Northwoods Mathematics, Science & Technology Center (NMSTC) is charged with providing services to the public and private schools in Delta and Schoolcraft Counties in the central region of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
We believe that science, mathematics, and the implementation of technology are the necessary foundations for the future of our students. Their success and the future of this country are dependent on the upcoming generations to become mathematically and scientifically literate. We have adopted the philosophy that students should be "users" of science, math, and technology not just "knowers" of math, science, and technology. Community based learning and real world applications will be incorporated at every opportunity.
The purpose of the Center is to:
To improve instruction in mathematics, science and technology for all students in grades K through 12th within our service area.
To provide quality, needs based professional development for K-12 educators within our service area.
To build strong supportive relationships with organizations, both educational and business, in our communities.
To fulfill this purpose, NMSTC, and all of the othercenters in the state, have set goals organized into six service areas. The six service areas are:
Resource Clearing House
NMSTC is guided by a strategic plan organized under these service areas.
